Adding Photos, Documents, and Reference Material

2 min read

TIM keeps item photographs, evidence documents, and general references connected to the correct inventory.

Item photographs #

Edit an item and open Photo gallery and evidence documents. Upload JPG, PNG, or WebP images. Useful photographs include left side, right side, front, rear, box or label, decoder installation, condition, and damage. Add a caption and image type, then choose one photograph as Primary.

Use your own photographs when documenting actual condition. A catalog or reference image can help identify an item but should not be treated as proof that your physical item has the same condition or configuration.

Train-set photographs #

A train set can have one shared image. Linked components may reuse that image as their primary card and table image without duplicating the file. Keep individual component photos when they provide meaningful identification or condition evidence.

Evidence documents #

The item editor accepts receipts, appraisals, manuals, track plans, CAD files, and other supporting evidence. Give each file a clear label and choose its type. Evidence documents appear on the item detail page.

Reference Library #

Use References for manuals, diagrams, decoder notes, vendor pages, and resources that are not necessarily evidence for one owned item. A reference can be linked to a specific item or kept as a general inventory resource.

Reference visibility has two choices:

  • Private to this inventory.
  • Shared sitewide with all TIM users.

Do not mark receipts, appraisals, private photographs, addresses, or other personal material as shared sitewide.

Upload limits #

Uploads are controlled by account status, role, allowed file type, maximum file size, daily limits, and total storage quota. Pending accounts cannot upload. Inventory Settings shows current usage and limits.

Before deleting an uploaded file, confirm that it is not the only copy. TIM organizes files but you should also keep independent backups of important photographs and documents.
