Keep a record when an item is acquired, moved, installed, removed, sold, traded, donated, or disposed.
Lifecycle status #
Use the inventory item’s status to show whether it is planned, ordered, owned, sold, traded, donated, or disposed. Historical records can remain in TIM without counting as currently owned.
Stock movements #
Use a stock movement when the quantity or physical placement changes and the history matters. Record the date, movement type, quantity, source or destination, and a useful note.
Recommended practice #
- Open the item.
- Confirm that it is the correct inventory number and physical item.
- Update its lifecycle status or add the applicable movement.
- Add a note explaining the reason.
- Save and review the activity history.
Preserve history instead of deleting a record when the item left the collection through a sale, trade, donation, or disposal.
