Connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API account

Connecting a provider account is an advanced alternative to buying My-Trains hosted credits.

Before connecting #

• You need an active eligible TIM membership.
• The site must have secure provider-key storage enabled.
• Create a separately billed API account with OpenAI or Anthropic. A ChatGPT or Claude subscription does not supply these API charges.

Connect a key #

1. Open My-Trains AI in the intended inventory.
2. Find Advanced: connect your own AI account.
3. Choose the OpenAI or Anthropic card.
4. Paste the provider API key into the password field.
5. Choose Save and select.

Security and billing #

• The key is accepted only over HTTPS.
• It is encrypted on the My-Trains server and is never redisplayed in full.
• It is not sent to browser JavaScript, TIM exports, or portable backups.
• It is decrypted only for a server-to-server request to the selected provider.
• The site operator controls the server and can technically access a decrypted credential.
• The provider account behind the key pays for each attempt. My-Trains hosted credits are not used.

To stop using the account, select another billing method and choose Remove key in the provider card. Never email or paste an API key into a support ticket.
