A TIM QR label is a printed shortcut to one item or one structured storage location.
What the code contains #
The QR code contains an authenticated My-Trains.com web address. It does not contain the item's private data, photos, values, notes, or documents. Scanning the code never bypasses TIM permissions.
What the person scanning it experiences #
- Open the phone or tablet camera. A separate TIM scanner is not required.
- Point the camera at the printed QR code and open the detected link.
- Sign in to My-Trains.com when prompted.
- TIM returns to the exact item, room, shelf, box, bin, or case when that account can view the inventory.
If the signed-in account does not have inventory access, TIM does not reveal the record.
Where labels are created #
Open the inventory and choose Reports. Download Item QR labels for inventory records or Storage QR labels for locations created under Storage. Both PDFs use an Avery 5160/8160-compatible 30-label layout on US Letter paper.
Renaming an item or storage location does not invalidate its QR code because TIM keeps the same internal record ID. Deleting the record makes the old label unusable.
