Open Import & Export for data movement #
- Complete inventory CSV.
- JSON data export.
- Complete portable backup and restore.
- CSV and Excel imports.
- JMRI roster exchange.
- RailModeller Pro Stock and Part List exchange.
CSV is useful for spreadsheet review but does not contain protected files or every related record. JSON is machine-readable but is not the complete restoration package. The portable ZIP contains supported records, relationships, protected photographs, documents, projects, maintenance, loans, storage, lifecycle, and Operations data and is the preferred disaster-recovery format.
Recommended routine #
- Correct important gaps identified by Data completeness audit.
- Download the necessary owner or operations PDFs.
- Create a portable backup after significant changes and regularly thereafter.
- Keep a protected copy outside My-Trains.com and away from the physical collection.
Every download is permission-checked and scoped to the active Personal or Club inventory. Protect downloaded files because they may contain private collection, value, borrower, and location information.
