The JMRI tools are missing #
Import & Export appears only to users who can edit the selected inventory. Ask an inventory owner or manager to check your role.
TIM rejects a file type #
Use an individual `.xml` file created by JMRI Export Entry or a `.roster` package created by Export Complete Roster. Do not rename an unrelated ZIP or XML configuration file.
TIM says the file cannot be parsed #
- Export the file again from JMRI.
- Confirm that the upload completed and is not empty.
- Ask the site administrator to confirm that PHP SimpleXML is enabled.
- Complete-roster import and export also require PHP Zip.
TIM finds no locomotives #
Layout panels, decoder definition files, and other JMRI XML documents do not contain roster entries. Use Export Entry or Export Complete Roster.
TIM proposes a duplicate #
Compare the roster ID, TIM inventory number, manufacturer, model, road number, and DCC address. Choose Update only when both records represent the same physical locomotive.
JMRI asks for decoder information after import #
TIM can preserve a recorded decoder family and model but does not contain JMRI's decoder definitions or programming values. Confirm the correct decoder in JMRI before programming a locomotive.
Still need help #
Include the TIM version, exact error message, file extension, and whether the file came from Export Entry or Export Complete Roster. Do not post a roster publicly if its comments contain private information.
